Blind eye: What are the real costs of the sex trade, and are we addressing them?
Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 | 12:15 p.m.
From nightclubs to strip clubs, there is no shortage of options for men looking to get frisky in Las Vegas, and a new online dating survey confirms that Sin City is indeed one of the most promiscuous places in the country.
Sugar daddy website SeekingArrangement.com, which pairs wealthy singles with attractive partners who want to be pampered, recently polled 5,000 of its male users about their sexual habits.
The survey asked men how many sexual partners they’d had in the past year, with those having more than seven partners receiving the “promiscuous” label.
Thirty-eight percent of those surveyed reported more than seven sexual partners in a year. A high concentration was found in Las Vegas, where 68 percent of men surveyed fell into the promiscuous category.
That puts Las Vegas at No. 3 in the country, behind Chicago and Birmingham, Ala., and just ahead of Oklahoma City.
Rounding out the list of top 10 most promiscuous cities are Atlanta, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Hoboken, N.J., Richmond, Va., and Hartford, Conn.
“It’s Sin City. We have a culture where whatever happens here stays here,” said Brandon Wade, founder of SeekingArrangment.com. “It’s OK to be a little more open about sex here.”
Wade operates SeekingArrangement.com and several other dating websites, including MissTravel.com, from his Las Vegas office. Together, the sites have a combined membership of more than 1.7 million.

We are going to use a Sugar Daddy Web Site as a source and expect honest answers?
I would take more stock in a survey done by a reporter that hung out in the bars on the strip and asked questions.
If paid sex is taken out of the equation, I'll bet there is little difference here than other cities of equal size. Each city does have its own personality but among permanent residents I suspect we're much like other places.
As for visitors and those who sell sex, that is a constant in almost every city. Some are more open and some require a little more discretion but I've never heard of or been to a city that didn't offer the opportunity.
Frisky? You mean laid, right?
Author, do you honestly think Wade is credible? Really? Or did you just give him the publicity he desperately needs?
all it takes is money in vegas . if you are a male in las vegas with a lot of money you have it made . just go too any strip club in vegas or a nightclub like xs.tryst,or hyde for example . with the economy the way it is out in vegas . just start talking to a female in the club and she will ask you where you are staying and the subject of money will come up . when the economy went sour out here in vegas many females who maybe worked in strip clubs started hanging out at the nightclubs or the upscale hotel bars . we had a metro undercover vice squad operation at our hotel once with two officers at the bar . netted 9 arrests that night . backpage.com is another web site that is used also out in vegas. if anybody in vegas doesnt think this happens on a nightly basis well you havent lived out here long enough or worked in a casino or hotel where the tourists ask you " where is the best place to get a female back to my room "
It's really amazing what passes for journalism on this website.
How is a "survey" from some sleazy website considered news? This survey obviously has no scientific validity whatsoever given the fact that Vegas was beaten out by, of all places, Birmingham, AL.
I love the Las Vegas Sun's in-depth reporting. It generates clicks.
I GUESS we will NEVER EVER LEARN that we will NEVER stop this. HELLO GOVERNMENT, the ONE thing YOU need to be TAXING, AND they DON'T. Yes I'm living in a Parallel Universe.
Good job, Brandon, at creating some bogus data and selling it as fact to the Sun. Got you some pub, dude!
The cheater's website AshleyMadison did that a couple of weeks ago when the Sun passed along results from that website which stated the Wynn was the most popular place for affairs. http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/sep...
I gotta create me a survey, too, and get some cheap publicity.
I'm sorry, but using as your data source a service "which pairs wealthy singles with attractive partners who want to be pampered" makes about as much sense is using the Bunny Ranch or escorts as your data source. Of course promiscuity is high -- that's the business they're in, and the more promiscuous the better! And given our high transient population, not a surprise, as we attract both customers and providers from around the world. But I'll bet that if you actually conducted a serious study of LV residents, you'd find we're well within the national (if not worldwide) norm. We're just more tolerant of human nature here, and more supportive of individual rights.
Sexually exploiting women who largely come from a childhood of abuse, and an environment of violence and drugs is the real issue.
To get the sin out of the city would mean to stop exploiting women. Why would the City of Las Vegas or the Clark County Commissioners ever take a stand for women when they never have?
Las Vegas should be renamed The City of the Exploitation of Women.
The smut all over the phone books, the so-called "news" stands, the prostitute cards handed out on the Strip, the billboards, casino ads, babes to you on trucks, etc.
Women (and men) need to stand up for women. Exploiting us has to stop.
