Coroner identifies woman stabbed to death in Henderson

A Henderson woman stabbed to death at her home on Wednesday has been identified as 43-year-old Candace Michele Moffett, the Clark County Coroner’s Office said.

Moffett’s death was the result of a penetrating stab wound to the chest and has been ruled a homicide, the coroner’s office said.

According to Henderson Police, 59-year-old Gary Gaston allegedly attacked Moffett, his ex-girlfriend, about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday at Moffett’s home on Rising Brook Drive.

Moffett was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5:35 p.m., police said.

Gaston was found at Moffett’s house and admitted to the stabbing, police allege.

Gaston, who is being held without bail, was booked at the Henderson Detention Center on counts of murder and burglary with a deadly weapon, police said. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
