Apartment fire
One person was found dead after a fire in a second-story apartment at the Alpine Village Apartments on Saturday, said Las Vegas Fire and Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski.
Szymanski said Las Vegas Fire and Rescue received reports around 12:55 p.m. of a two-alarm fire and a person burning at 901 Brush St., near Decatur and Charleston boulevards. Firefighters arrived and saw heavy flames and smoke emitting from the second story of the apartment building.
Szymanski said it took firefighters 20 minutes to put out the flames. One person was found dead on the second floor, and a woman was treated for smoke inhalation, Szymanski said. The fire also gutted a second-story apartment and left three others with moderate damage. The fire caused $200,000 in damage to the apartments.
Las Vegas Fire and Rescue is investigating the blaze.
