Building at Tuscany casino in Las Vegas evacuated after reports of strange odor

A building at the Tuscany Suites and Casino was evacuated on Thanksgiving after reports of a strange odor in a second-floor hallway, a Clark County Fire Department spokesman said.

The smell, which was detected about 8:50 p.m. in Building “O” of the complex at 255 East Flamingo Road, was described as a “burning sensation” that was making people ill, fire officials said.

Clark County firefighters and a Las Vegas Fire and Rescue hazardous materials team responded. Two hotel guests were medically checked but were not taken to the hospital, officials said.

The building was evacuated as a precaution, and guests were temporarily moved to a nearby fitness room. The building was ventilated with fans, and the hallways and rooms were checked with air monitors, officials said. Guests were allowed back in after about an hour.
