Firefighter named in sick leave flap files lawsuit

A Las Vegas-area firefighter who was fired, then rehired after being accused of abusing sick leave has filed a federal lawsuit seeking unspecified monetary damages from Clark County.

Donald Munn is alleging defamation and constitutional rights violations in the lawsuit filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas.

Munn was a Clark County firefighter for 18 years before he was fired in May 2011 amid allegations of misused sick leave in the department.

He won his job back in arbitration this month.

KSNV-TV reports the lawsuit alleges violations of the federal Family Medical Leave Act.

It also claims Munn's privacy rights were violated when the county released Munn's emails.

A county spokesman didn't immediately respond Thursday to a message seeking comment.
