Apartment blaze

One man was hospitalized Monday after an apartment building near UNLV caught fire.

The Clark County Fire Department responded to the blaze at 3:46 p.m. at an apartment on Flamingo Road near Swenson Street, county officials said.

Once firefighters arrived to the 700 E. Flamingo Road apartments they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the first floor and extending to the second floor, officials said.

In less than five minutes firefighters extinguished the blaze that caused an estimated $30,000, officials said.

A man who was inside the apartment at the time of the fire was transported to Sunrise Hospital, county officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
