Officer shot
A Metro Police officer responding to a domestic violence disturbance suffered nonlife-threatening injuries when he was shot in the head Friday night.
Police say they were called at 10:22 p.m. to a home near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Vegas Drive where shots had been fired.
Police say an 8-year-old girl at the residence was shot in the face and is expected to recover. Both the child and the officer were taken to University Medical Center.
The suspected shooter remains barricaded in the home, and a SWAT unit is at the scene, according to police.
