Monday’s editorial cartoon showing Rick Santorum calling for Thomas Jefferson to destroy the wall of separation between church and state is sad and unfortunately true. It is as though he is not aware of the many statements by Jefferson, Madison, Adams, et al., that it is best for both for such a wall to be in place. Santorum has three college degrees (is he a snob, too?), so I assume he knows our early history, unless he got those three degrees through home schooling. That leads me to conclude that his religious beliefs trump the basic truths that the writers of the Constitution intended.
