In Las Vegas, the majority of high school graduation ceremonies are at the Orleans Arena.
This year, more than 13,000 seniors from 33 high schools graduated in ceremonies at the arena, located on West Tropicana Avenue. The ceremonies ran like clockwork, with graduating seniors and their families flowing in and out of the arena over a two-week period in June.
Under new Superintendent Dwight Jones, the Clark County School District increased its graduation rate by 6 percentage points, from 59 percent in 2011 to 65 percent this year. Overall, the School District produced nearly 16,000 graduates in the Class of 2012.

67 salutatorians
4,252 Advanced and Honors Diplomas
321 Advanced Placement recognitions
31 National Merit Scholars and 26 National Merit Finalists
17 Service Academy appointments
Six Gates Millennium Scholarship recipients
The Class of 2012 has been awarded more than $240.9 million in college scholarships.
The Orleans Arena, a Boyd Gaming facility located just west of the Las Vegas Strip, is one of the nation’s leading mid-sized arenas, and was recently ranked No. 1 in the United States and No. 5 internationally among venues of similar size by Venues Today Magazine.
The Arena hosts more than 200 events each year, including concerts by top names like Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, Van Halen, Brooks & Dunn, Black Eyed Peas, Akon and Rihanna; family favorites like The Harlem Globetrotters and Circus Spectacular; and a wide variety of sporting events, including NCAA basketball tournaments, the West Coast Conference and Western Athletic Conference Basketball Championships, mixed martial arts with Superior Cage Combat, and major motorsports events.
