Apartment fire
An early morning fire caused an estimated $8,000 in damage to one unit in a Henderson apartment complex.
Henderson firefighters responded at 12:30 a.m. to the Galleria Palms Apartments on Whitney Ranch Drive near Sunset Boulevard, where crews put out a small kitchen fire, officials said.
Neighbors had reported the incident after noticing smoke.
The resident was not at home at the time of the fire, officials said.
Neighbors in some adjacent units were evacuated from their apartments while the fire was being extinguished.
The fire displaced one adult, who is being assisted by friends.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
