What the heck is this show doing on FX? The network of bold comedies like Louie and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a strange fit for Anger Management, the new multi-camera, laugh-tracked sitcom starring Charlie Sheen.

Based essentially just on the title of the 2003 Adam Sandler/Jack Nicholson movie, Management stars Sheen as a former pro baseball player who now works as an anger-management therapist but still, of course, has issues of his own. Management is Sheen’s big comeback following his ouster from Two and a Half Men, and his character here is another crass, immature womanizer. The predictable storylines, stale jokes and mild vulgarity would be perfectly at home on network TV, perhaps on CBS right alongside the new Sheen-free Men.

Solid supporting players including Selma Blair, Brett Butler and Barry Corbin bring a little pep to some of the material, but overall Management feels like leftovers from a meal that wasn’t particularly satisfying in the first place.
