Letter to the editor:

Public unions have become too strong

I’ve been a strong union advocate all my life. For many decades, union support has been able to accomplish many wonderful things for working people, including a living wage. But times have changed; in many cases, unions have not, particularly with public service unions.

As Wisconsin’s recent vote shows, people are disgusted with the overblown salaries and benefits of public workers. During the boom times, this was of little concern, but no longer.

I see North Las Vegas as a perfect example, where public workers are willing to destroy a city to avoid reasonable negotiation to benefit everyone. While the city government is hugely responsible for the fiscal crisis, unions’ intransigence is equally at fault.
