The woman who threatened to kill herself and her child Saturday morning at a motel in the northern part of the valley has been arrested, according to Metro Police.

Kimberley Kardell, 34, faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, first-degree kidnapping with a weapon, child abuse and endangerment with a deadly weapon, allowing a child to be present with controlled substances and resisting a police officer.

Metro Police will also be evaluating Kardell, who made suicidal threats, officials said.

Kardell was holding her 1-year-old child hostage at the Budget Suites at 2219 N. Rancho Drive. Police responded to the scene and SWAT negotiators arrived shortly afterward. Her child is now in protective custody.

The investigation remains ongoing. Metro Police is urging anyone with information to call the Metro Abuse/Neglect Detail at (702) 828-3364 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
