CARSON CITY -- Nevada's best-known brothel owner is endorsing Ron Paul for president.
Dennis Hof, owner of Moonlight Bunny Ranch outside of Carson City, told the Daily Caller that he made his decision after polling his workers on their favored candidates.
“We decided to go with the guy that’s more about state’s rights — and that’s Ron Paul,” he told the conservative website.
“We thought real closely about supporting [Newt] Gingrich — because he’s a cheater — and we like cheaters,” Hof added.
Though it's unlikely Hof's endorsement will have an effect, Paul already has significant support in libertarian-leaning Nevada after doing well here in 2008.
Hof told the Daily Caller that his workers were upset with President Barack Obama over his signature on a bill that allows the human consumption of horse meat. The treatment of wild horses is a key issue in parts of Nevada.
Nevada's smaller counties may, under state law, legalize prostitution. And Hof has become the face of the industry, thanks to forays into reality TV and policy debates.
He visited the Legislature last year, when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid delivered a speech that included a call to end legal prostitution. He is also a common site in public in Northern Nevada - he was spotted a few months ago heading into Carson City's Applebee's - and he and his employees are annual entrants in the Nevada Day Parade.

Who cares about this guys opinion?
Well, of course. I mean, who doesn't like cheaters? Meh.
This guys opinion resonates as much as that of Larry Flynt. Who cares who this low class slob endorses?
This is news?
Ron Paul will most likely get my vote for one reason and one reason only. He is the only candidate that will cut everything to the bone from a spending point of view. We are spending near 500 billion over and above what is coming in, in addition to a debt of 14 trillion. Unsustainable. Need a harsh reality of spending cuts. Not 30 billion. Not 100 billion. You need 500 billion cut. Now! No business can survive, no household can survive with deficit spending as this country does. Bring every troop home, cut foreign aid to zero and focus on here. When there is a surplus, we can start making logical decisions to give it back to the citizens or look for effective, meaningful ways to spend it. Every other candidate is just playing lip service to our financial crisis, including Obama.
This is what makes America great. You have the right to call this person a scumbag. The person has the right to be one. Both of you get to vote and both votes count. Each of you is free (at least at present) to persue your own happiness.
Last but least Ron Paul cant control from whom he gets his votes. Would you rather he vote for Obamma?
Will J. Patrick Coolican write an article crying that Mr. Hof's employees are "enslaved?"
Laws banning prostitution are a perfect example of the conservative "Nanny State" we must all suffer under.
Prostitution doesn't bother me as much as this guy does. There is just something creepy about him. He makes my skin crawl.
Creepy is right! He even looks like Rush in the picture!!! :-)
Is this some sort of attempt to discredit Ron Paul by trying to associate him with prostitution? Or does someone think that this guy's opinion actually means something outside of his little cluster of trailers in the middle of nowhere. I mean I'm not gonna put the guy down for what he does, but honestly, he's just a nobody in the middle of nowhere.
If it were me, I would have tried to stir up interest by interviewing the owners of the Little Ale Inn in Rachel, and gotten them and some other UFO fanatics to demand that the next president open up the files on Area 51 or something. That would have gotten some national press and generated traffic from people, as well as would have been a whole lot more interesting than this.
I agree with girlygirl. This Hof guy makes my skin crawl. I believe that prostitution should be legalized, but that doesn't mean I like scuzzy pimps like Hof.
If I had to vote for a Republican, it would be Ron Paul, but I happen to like Obama pretty well. I think he's done a "B" job considering he was handed a nasty financial crash and a war from the get-go and had little experience to boot. I think he's a smart man who takes the job seriously, though I don't agree with every decision he's made.
I also agree with TomD about the deficit spending. That house of cards is going to come down on us all hard, and it was a bi-partisan fiasco. It ain't gonna be pretty, mopping up this mess. When the economy recovers, spending has to come down, and taxes have to come up. We just can't do it right away or the economic recovery will be toast.
Well I guess this is news that a brothel owner supports Paul? I guess?
@ The_Next_Oinion: "If I voted Repub I'd vote for Paul (Liberterrian)but I voted for Obama with his minimal experience".-----Typical Dem not having a clue.
Dear Mr.Sun:
Would you kindly put out a POLL/SURVEY (on all candidates, including write ins and none of the above) that everyone who wishes to participate, can put their opinion on a either day to day or week to week basis, and then chart the ever shifting results until election time?
This would certainly be intriguing to follow, and likely stir the pot on the discussions you are seemingly fanning here. =)
EVERY vote counts in the American system. Matters not, one's station in life.
Thank You,
Star
Blessings and Peace
Mr. Hof has all the appearances of a major league baseball umpire when the majors are playing. He says he and his employees like cheats and liars, is more than likely is a major umpire.
The Horse Whisperer is about the wild horses of Nevada and the training of horses without the brutality that some trainers use to break horses to the bit and saddle. Sen. Reid, for once, is wrong about the end to legal prosts.
A pimp's endorsement...
both parties are adults so who cares if prostitution is legal. They make money and the guys are happy. The only ones that seem to be unhappy are the uptight Christians and married women....the same who brought about prohibition. People need real freedom. Start making your own choices and actually being responsible for them instead of the government coddling you through life
Full disclosure. I have posted many a negative post on the tea party. And this story demonstrates a part of the reason why. Ron Paul will never be allowed by the Republican establishment to be the presidential nominee not going to happen. The Republican party who represents the wealthiest is only using you for votes that's it you are nothing more then a tool that is being used by the Republicans and when you are no longer useful you will be dumped in the nearest dung heap.
Oh boy another Ron Paul story it is always the same drivel...
