AAA reports gasoline prices increase across Nevada

Gas prices are on the rise throughout Nevada, with drivers in most areas paying a dime or more per gallon compared to a month ago, according to the AAA auto club.

The average price of gas in Las Vegas is now at $3.48 per gallon, lower than the statewide average of $3.51 but still eight cents higher than this time last month, according to the club’s monthly fuel price report. At this time last year, the average cost of a gallon of gas in Nevada was $3.20. A month ago, the statewide average was $3.42 a gallon.

AAA attributed the rising prices to investor activity, which is being affected by economic uncertainty in Europe and political tensions surrounding Iran.

Nevada has the 15th highest average price of gas in the country. Hawaii leads with an average price of $4.20 per gallon, while California averages $3.85.

In Nevada, prices are highest in Sparks, where regular gasoline costs an average of $3.67 per gallon, and lowest in Elko, where drivers pay an average of $3.29.

The average price of gas in North Las Vegas is $3.48, a 10-cent increase from a month ago, and in Henderson it is $3.52, also a 10-cent increase. Up north, the average cost of gas in Reno is $3.64 and in Carson City it is $3.60, an increase of 15 cents and 18 cents, respectively, from a month earlier.
