Nye County sheriff's deputies arrested Todd Kitchner, who is accused of shooting at a neighbor's home in Pahrump on Feb. 9, 2012.

Nude suspect

Nye County deputies arrested a Pahrump man they found naked on a back porch holding a handgun that authorities say was used today to fire at a residence occupied by six people at the time.

Todd Kitchner, 52, of Pahrump was arrested on suspicion of discharging a firearm at or into an occupied residence, assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment, discharging a firearm on a public street, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies responded at 7:23 a.m. to the call of shots fired at the intersection of Manse and Money streets in Pahrump, according to a Nye County sheriff’s office arrest report.

When deputies arrived on scene they heard three shots fired from the rear of a property on the 4900 block of South Money Street in Pahrump, the report said.

After following the sounds of gunfire the deputies were led to a back porch where they found a naked man holding a handgun, the report said.

Deputies instructed the man to drop his weapon, which he eventually did.

Six rounds were fired at the home of one of Kitchner’s neighbors where a family of four children and two adults were residing at the time of the shooting, the report said.

None of the family members were injured during the incident, the report said.

Kitchner was taken into custody and booked at the Nye County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

According to the arrest report, deputies found multiple bullet holes throughout Kitchner's residence from various types and calibers of firearms.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call the Nye County sheriff's office at 775-751-7000.

  1. Had this occurred in Metro's jurisdiction the story would be about a naked man with handgun shot by police.

I'm not saying that would not have been justifiable, but one can't help but notice the difference between the action taken in Nye County vs. what we have come to expect here.

  2. I guess he can't be charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

  3. Jerry, would you want to verify that he wasn't? :)
