Scene of fatal accident
A Las Vegas man who died in a motorcycle accident Wednesday afternoon has been identified as 28-year-old Osvaldo Raul Cardenas-Amador, according to the Clark County coroner’s office.
The accident happened at 4 p.m. near the intersection of Jones Boulevard and Robindale Road when the motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle.
Metro Police said Cardenas-Amador was riding a 2003 Honda motorcycle south on Jones Boulevard while approaching the intersection of Robindale Road on a yellow traffic signal.
A 2001 GMC Yukon SUV heading north on Jones Boulevard entered the intersection on the yellow light, attempting to make a left turn when the collision occurred, police said. It appears Cardenas-Amador slammed on his brakes, lost control and was ejected from the bike, police said.
Cardenas-Amador died at the scene, police said. No other injures were reported.
This is the 14th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2012.
