Real estate mogul Donald Trump said he will make a "major" announcement that “will pertain to the presidential race” on Thursday in Las Vegas, sparking speculation that he will endorse former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Trump said he will make the announcement at his Las Vegas hotel.
But don’t expect Gingrich to change his schedule, shortly after arriving on the Nevada campaign trail.
“I have no idea what the Donald is going to do,” he said while answering reporters' questions following a rally in Reno today. “He is always interesting and I don’t know of anybody who does a better job of getting attention by announcing that he will presently announce something.”
Trump flirted with the presidential race for months, keeping supporters and the media on edge about his intentions before ditching the idea. He then tried to host a presidential debate, but he canceled after only Gingrich and former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum said they would attend.
