GOP chairman Reince Priebus officially gaveled open the 2012 Republican National Convention today, only to immediately close it for a day-long recess-- a planned intermission to make way for tropical storm Isaac.
Even though the proceedings lasted less than five minutes, groups of both Ron Paul and Mitt Romney delegates stood warily by in case either faction tried something unexpected.
“There’s an awful lot of people here,” Ron Paul delegate Carl Bunce said suspiciously just before the opening. He expected an empty room for the brief session.
“It’s politics. I’ve seen a lot of things happen,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Romney campaign ensured its whips and any delegates that actually attended the opening were ready with a counter chant if Paul supporters started one of their own.
In the end, the brief session was uneventful. Priebus’ only remarks were to criticize President Barack Obama’s “fiscal recklessness” as he started a federal debt clock that will run the length of the convention.
Paul supporters launched a brief demonstration at the back of the convention floor, which went largely unheeded. After Priebus left the stage, they waved Paul signs in front of Romney’s “We Can Do Better” slogan and chanted, “Ron Paul,” for a few moments before the television cameras.
The RNC canceled Monday’s events out of concern for tropical storm Isaac, which caused very little disruption in Tampa.
The convention is set to resume Tuesday, when Gov. Brian Sandoval will speak.
The wheels of justice turn very slowly due to America's perverse double standard of justice: one for the rich and another for the poor. Notice that when a poor American shoplifts a 65-cent bread to feed his starving family, he goes to jail. But when billionaire Bernie L. Madoff defrauds ( steals) $65 billion for fifty years (1959-2009), nationwide and worldwide, he goes scot-free, not even prosecuted and for half a century, Madoff had never been arrested for fraud as Chairman of Nasdaq having laughed all the way to the bank. Incredible ! Had Madoff not confessed about the fraud to his son who turned him in to the FBI, until now, Madoff would have continued committing fraud uninterrupted just like Willard Mitt Romney, the serial tax evader, who has been doing it for 29 years due to power, money, influence, suppressed evidence since he founded Bain Capital as President, CEO and sole stockholder in 1983, having paid zero taxes for ten years at least, and having hid his millions if not billions of dollars offshore in 5 tax-haven countries, among other crimes committed but yet undisclosed. Is felon Willard Mitt Romney a traitor, pathological liar, perjurer, money launderer, tax fraudster, war profiteer, medicare fraudster, cult bishop, scofflaw? Or all of the above ? While definitely not a patriot according to the definition of patriotism by GOP (Greedy Obstructionist Party) Republican-Tea Potties, Romney is what is wrong with America and his running mate Paul Ryan represents everything that is wrong with Congress. Vote all Republican-Tea Partier candidates out of office, without conditions, without exceptions in the three branches of government to save America and 99% of Americans from financial disaster, before it is too late. A true bishop is not expected to lie yet Romney has a habit of lying subconsciously without remorse. Avoid all Republican candidates like the plague. Save your fellow Americans from financial disaster lest what you are saving may be your own. Make time to exercise your right to vote on Election Day, Tuesday morning, November 6, 2012.

Suppression is becoming a trademark for the Republican Party. They will do it against Democrats, and Republicans who don't tow the party line.
I don't agree with the Paul supporters, but I think it is wrong for the RNC to stiffle them from participating in democracy.
As far as I am concerned the conventions are a big farce and waste of money. Time to end the sham, for both parties. Donate the money to paying down the national debt.
Of course, after all the voter suppression that has been going on, both parties will need some extra money for the lawsuits that will follow the election counts for the Presidency and Congress.
Since I see that becoming a growing reality, I will donate to legal funds.
