Errant gunshot kills onlooker watching fight in apartment parking lot

Area of shooting

A man is dead after being shot Friday morning during an altercation at a party in the central valley, Metro Police said.

Police received a call of shots fired shortly after 2 a.m. Friday at an apartment complex in the 600 block of East Twain Avenue, between Paradise Road and Swenson Street.

According to police, a fight broke out between two people at a party in one of the apartment units.

As the fight spilled into the parking lot, a crowd gathered to watch, at which point someone fired a gun into the air, police said.

The shot struck a man standing on the second story landing in front of his apartment unit, police said. After being shot, the man returned inside his apartment where he died, police said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity and the cause and manner of his death.

Police have not made any arrests in the homicide.
