Local product signs with UNLV tennis

The UNLV men’s tennis program made a rare dip into the Las Vegas-area talent pool Tuesday when it received a national letter of intent from former Bonanza High player Brendan Aguilar.

Aguilar is the nation’s No. 82 recruiting prospect for the class of 2012, according to the Tennis Recruiting Network. The group considers him Nevada’s No. 3 prospect.

“We are really excited to sign Brendan,” UNLV coach Owen Hambrook said in a statement. “Bringing in someone from Las Vegas is great for the program. He is one of the top juniors in the USTA Intermountain Section and we are excited that he has chosen to stay home and be a part of the Rebel tennis program.”

Aguilar will begin competing for the Rebels in the fall.

  1. Congrats Brendan! It's nice to see local talent stay in town and play for UNLV for a change.
