The identity of the 60-year-old woman who died early Sunday after she walked in front of an oncoming car in the west valley has been released.

Maria Bentura Amezquita Pamatz of Las Vegas was walking across Sahara Avenue, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office and Metro Police.

Police responded to the call around 4:55 a.m. on Sahara Avenue near Arville Street, police said.

Amezquita Pamatz was attempting to cross the street against a traffic signal when a 2010 Nissan Altima traveling west on Sahara Avenue struck her, police said.

Police say the Nissan was traveling through the intersection on a green light.

Amezquita Pamatz was transported to University Medical Center’s trauma unit, where she died a short time later, police said.

The collision is the 38th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
