Regarding Saturday’s editorial “No-new-taxes rhetoric fails to understand what people really think”:
Politicians and their operatives will say anything to achieve their No. 1 priority: re-election and winning majority rule.
The GOP’s pat, unflinching answer to end our economic woes is simply to cut the budget and taxes. However, Nevadans who have been considering alternatives and ramifications reject such a simplistic prescription. Nevadans will pay taxes needed to maintain standards for education and health care, vital parts of our complex democratic system.
