Letter to the editor:

We need to replace our politicians

Estimates say up to $60 billion has been lost in Iraq and Afghanistan over the past decade because of lax oversight of contractors, poor planning, inadequate competition and good old corruption. I’m referencing a recent Associated Press report by Richard Lardner.

When I vote for any politician I take it for granted that he or she is well educated and possesses an abundance of integrity. Somewhere along the line, we are being let down big time. We can no longer tolerate a dysfunctional two-party system.

Generations didn’t work and give their lives to have us wind up in this mess. How much money can we tax hardworking Americans? How much money can we borrow from communist China? The day is coming when the huge IOUs will be called in.

Our government in Washington and our military are throwing money into one huge black hole. I dare say if we replaced politicians in D.C. with frugal housewives, we would have a balanced budget in short order. The women I know would squeeze a nickel until Thomas Jefferson’s eyes popped out.
