Police release vehicle description in Lake Mohave double shooting

Shooting

Metro Police said no suspects have been arrested in connection with the double shooting Tuesday morning at Lake Mohave that killed a woman and critically injured a man.

However, police said a sport utility vehicle with a tan top and white bottom is considered a vehicle of interest in the case. The make and model of the SUV is unknown, but witnesses saw it in the area prior to the incident.

Authorities from the National Park Service, Nevada Highway Patrol and Metro Police responded at 9:16 a.m. Tuesday to Six Mile Cove, a beach area east of Searchlight.

A male camper had yelled to another camper to call police Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Authorities arrived to find the male camper and a woman face down in the sand along the beach. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, who had multiple gunshot wounds, was airlifted to University Medical Center’s trauma unit, where he’s in very critical condition, police said.

Investigators determined the Hispanic couple, who were in a dating relationship, were camping at the cove when they were approached by a suspect or suspects and shot multiple times, police said.

Police gleaned some information from the injured man before he was transported to the hospital, but a language barrier prevented them from learning more, authorities said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office had not identified the female victim as of Wednesday afternoon.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Metro’s homicide section at (702) 828-3521 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
