An early morning carport fire damaged six cars and displaced 11 people, according to Las Vegas Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters were called to the 4000 block of Bradford Place at the Bradford Place Townhomes in the northwest part of the valley at approximately 4 a.m.

According to fire spokesman Tim Szymanski, a wood frame carport covering six cars was in flames when they arrived. Firefighters brought the fire under control in about 10 minutes, before it could spread to the two-story condo building.

The condo was not damaged in the fire but the carport and six cars were completely destroyed. The fire caused an estimated $75,000 worth of damage.

Investigators believe the fire started in one of the vehicles and spread.

The American Red Cross is assisting 11 residents who were displaced after the fire destroyed the electrical service that ran through the carport. The building lost electrical and natural gas service.

The cause is still under investigation.
