Median project
Sun Coverage
Medians on Eastern Avenue in Las Vegas will be getting an upgrade, but the work will require some lane closures this week.
Crews will be removing asphalt from sections of the medians on Eastern Avenue between Charleston Boulevard and Sahara Avenue. Decorative metal sculptures of desert plants and rocks will be added to the medians.
The work will close the inside lanes of Eastern in both directions from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Saturday, city officials said.
This type of landscaping provides an aesthetic improvement to the road but has low construction and maintenance costs and doesn’t require irrigation, the city said.
The work is being performed by city crews using sculptures created by a private vendor and city employees.
