Henderson’s Shakespeare in the Park begins 25th season tonight

The Bard is back in Henderson this weekend with a performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by the Las Vegas Shakespeare Company.

The play kicks off the 25th anniversary season of Shakespeare in the Park, a month-long event that will feature four shows at four parks throughout Henderson.

Performing in Shakespeare's classic comedy of love and magical tomfoolery will be several cast members from the company's spring production of "The Wizard of Oz."

The free event will first be performed at Sonata Park, 1550 Seven Hills Drive, at 7 p.m. tonight.

Free parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the park, with additional parking available at Vivaldi Park, 1249 Seven Hills Drive. At 5:30 p.m., shuttles will begin running continuously between the two parks.

Future performances will be on Oct. 8 at Discovery Park, 2011 Paseo Verde Parkway; Oct. 15 at Lake Las Vegas, 15 Costa di Lago; and Oct. 22 at River Mountain Park, 1941 Appaloosa Drive. All shows start at 7 p.m.
