Cubs to face Rangers during Big League Weekend in Las Vegas

The Chicago Cubs will return to Las Vegas in March for their 11th appearance during Big League Weekend at Cashman Field. The Cubs will face the Texas Rangers for games on March 17 and 18.

This will be the eighth consecutive year the Cubs will play in Las Vegas. It will be the first appearance at Cashman Field for the Rangers. They were scheduled to play here in 2004, but the games were rained out.

More than 20,000 people attended the two Big League Weekend games last year, both of which were wins for the Cubs. In the last seven years, there have been 13 sellout games featuring major league teams in Las Vegas.

Tickets for the games are available through the Las Vegas 51s box office or by calling 798-7825. The times of the games have not been announced because of pending TV schedules.

The first of the two games falls on St. Patrick’s Day, so Las Vegas tourism and baseball officials hope the holiday will draw extra crowds to the game.

Following the Big League Weekend, the Las Vegas 51s open their 30th season in Nevada on April 5 against the Sacramento River Cats.
