Second fire in 3 days destroys house, does $1.7 million damage

Fire

Fire destroyed a house in the southwest valley this morning after Clark County firefighters battled the second blaze at the same address within three days, officials said.

Damage was estimated at $1.7 million. No one was at the house at the time, and no injuries were reported, officials said.

Clark County spokeswoman Stacey Welling said firefighters received a report at 4:07 a.m. about a glow coming from the house at 10360 W. Agate Ave.

By 7 a.m., fire crews had contained the blaze, which might have started in the living room and spread to the attic and roof, officials said.

Welling said firefighters had been called to the same address about 7 p.m. Wednesday for a garage fire, which they put out.

The damage to the home from today’s fire was extensive, and the house was a total loss, Welling said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The home, off of Blue Diamond Road, is located at least a mile from the nearest fire hydrant, and firefighters had to shuttle water with their trucks, Welling said.
