A 16-year-old girl was in serious condition at a local hospital tonight after being hit by a school bus today while walking in a North Las Vegas crosswalk.

The collision happened on Brooks Avenue and Berg Street, near Cheyenne Avenue and Civic Center Drive, North Las Vegas Police said.

The 51-year-old Clark County School bus driver failed to stop at a stop sign at the crosswalk and will be faulted for the collision, police said.

The girl was taken to University Medical Center where she remains in serious condition, police said. Police have not yet released her name.

The bus driver and an elementary school student on the bus at the time were both uninjured, officials said.
