Deadly crash
A 55-year-old Las Vegas woman was hit and killed by a car Tuesday evening near Nellis Air Force Base, according to Metro Police.
The woman was hit at Las Vegas Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue around 7:15 p.m., police said.
The woman, who has not been identified pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said.
Police said evidence at the scene indicated that a 2003 Ford Taurus, which was driven by Betty Packer, 69, Las Vegas, was traveling east on Cheyenne Avenue, approaching Las Vegas Boulevard, when the accident occurred.
The 55-year-old woman was crossing Cheyenne Avenue from the north to the south outside a marked crosswalk when she was struck in an eastbound travel lane, police said.
Officers said the accident remains under investigation.

Good grief! Is it open season on pedestrians? Isn't that four in a relatively short period of time? RIP to the victim.

I will remember to look both ways (twice) next time I am in Vegas when I am crossing the street. In Texas Hunting Season is set to start. It looks like the slaughter has already started in Vegas. Stay safe my friends when crossing the streets of Vegas.
Check the driver's reaction time. This should be done when anyone over 65 is involved in a traffic accident. As you get older your reaction time diminishes as well as your vision at night.
