A 9-month-old girl died Monday after officials say she apparently suffocated in a blanket at an eastern valley home.
Police responded about 3 p.m. to the home on Sunflower Avenue near Mountain Vista Street after receiving a 911 call about a child not breathing. That location is south of Mountain Vista's intersection with Tropicana Avenue.
Police said the girl was taking a nap on a couch when she apparently suffocated while wrapped in a large blanket. Paramedics took the girl to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Metro's abuse and neglect detectives are continuing to investigate, but police said the death appears to be accidental in nature.
