Woman arrested for DUI in morning crash that injured passenger

A Sandy Valley woman faces charges of driving under the influence after a Friday morning crash critically injured a male passenger, Metro Police said.

Police said a 1989 Ford Tempo was traveling north on Osage Street near Quartz Avenue in Sandy Valley, about 50 miles southwest of Las Vegas, at about 12:06 a.m. when the vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole.

The passenger in the car, identified by police as Tommy Tieman, 52, was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, officials said.

The driver, Dorothy Bonney, 48, had minor injuries and was arrested in connection with felony driving under the influence of alcohol, Metro Police said. The crash location in Sandy Valley is less than a half-mile from the California state line.
