A Metro Police SWAT unit was called out early Monday evening to a downtown Las Vegas neighorhood where a woman thought to have a gun had barricaded herself inside her home.

Police said they received a call at 4:55 p.m. Monday from a friend of the woman, whose home is at 217 18th Street. The friend claimed she found the woman in a “distraught” state and the woman threatened to shoot her if she didn’t leave the home.

Police were unable to make contact with the woman and called SWAT and negotiators to the scene.

Police say SWAT broke a window out at the residence and the woman exited the building. Las Vegas Metro Police took the woman into custody.

The identity of the woman has not been released.
