At 107 degrees, Wednesday a scorcher in Las Vegas

A day after reaching triple-digit temperatures for the first time this year, Las Vegas really turned up the heat today.

McCarran International Airport, the official reporting station in Las Vegas, recorded a high of 107 degrees. That follows a high of 103 degrees on Tuesday.

Southwest winds were between 13 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph, the National Weather Service said.

On Tuesday afternoon, the temperature at McCarran reached 100 degrees for the first time this year. The late date for the first triple-digit occurrence ties for the fourth latest on record.

Thursday’s high is forecast to be about 103 degrees, then temperatures will drop back to the middle and upper 90s through the weekend.
