Fire

An electrical fire that broke out in a vacant house Thursday afternoon caused an estimated $229,000 damage, North Las Vegas Fire Department officials said.

The fire was reported at 12:18 p.m. at a single-story house in the 3600 block of Belmont Street. When fire crews arrived five minutes later, there were heavy flames and smoke coming from the roof, officials said.

Firefighters from North Las Vegas, Las Vegas and Clark County battled the blaze, which took about 20 minutes to put out, officials said. No other homes were damaged, and there were no injuries, officials said.

The house was a total loss. The fire was ruled an accident and was caused by an electrical malfunction, officials said.
