A man shot to death Sunday evening outside an apartment complex in the western Las Vegas Valley has been identified as 21-year-old Charles Lamont Taylor Jr., according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner has not determined his official cause or manner of death. He was a Las Vegas resident.

Officers responded about 8:30 p.m. to the gang-related shooting at the Avery Park apartments in the 2200 block of North Torrey Pines Drive near Smoke Ranch Road. Police said the victim and several other people were sitting on a wall when two Hispanic male juveniles approached them and claimed to be members of a rival gang.

A fight broke out, and one of the Hispanic juveniles allegedly fired numerous shots at the group, striking Taylor, who died at University Medical Center, police said. The suspects then ran from the scene.

Homicide detectives are investigating. No arrests have been made.
