NLV seeks input on changing hours at Willie McCool fly field

The city of North Las Vegas is looking for input on a proposal to change the fly field hours for electric aircraft at the Willie McCool Regional Park.

Residents use the park as a model airplane flying field.

The current operating hours for the fly field at the park, 4400 Horse Drive, are between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily. The proposed hours are from “dawn until dusk” and would only apply to electric aircraft, which emit little to no noise.

Fly field hours for gas-powered aircraft would remain the same, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily.

The city council is planning to hold a public hearing about the proposal on March 2. In the meantime, residents can submit public comments in writing or online by Feb. 6.

Online comments may be submitted through www.cityofnorthlasvegas.com, and written comments may be mailed to the Parks and Recreation Department, attention Aaron Turnier, 1630 N. Bruce St.
