The Nye County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of three children and a woman who died Wednesday morning in a mobile home fire in Pahrump.

Elliot Broadhead, 1, Zachary Broadhead, 4, Branden Smith, 6, and Crystal Smiley, 24, were killed in the fire in the 3400 block of Prospector Lane.

The mother of the children, Sharon Broadhead, 29, lived at the home with her children and Smiley, her roommate, neighbors said.

Pahrump Valley firefighters responded to a call at 9:30 a.m. and found heavy fire and smoke coming from the windows of the home, Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Chief Scott Lewis said.

Several neighbors and an off-duty firefighter tried to rescue the victims before firefighters arrived. Lewis said one child was being removed from the home as firefighters got there.

Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo said Smiley was on the telephone with Nye County emergency dispatchers when she died. The intensity of the fire in the double-wide mobile home turned rescuers back, he said.

Lewis said firefighters entered through a window to conduct a search for victims.

The sheriff’s office, fire marshals from Carson City and Las Vegas and Pahrump Valley fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
