Site of incident
Metro Police said an elderly man who was beaten by another man Thursday afternoon died from his injuries.
Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said the incident happened about 12:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Rainbow Boulevard, near Charleston Boulevard. A witness called police to report a man beating the elderly victim near a shopping center, she said.
Medical personnel took the victim to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Meltzer said.
It’s unknown what prompted the beating.
Police have detained two people for questioning, but no arrests have been made, she said. Homicide detectives are investigating.
