Motorcyclist killed in collision with SUV

A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed Tuesday night when he ran into an SUV that turned in front of him at an intersection, Metro Police said.

The crash happened about 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of Craig and Cimarron roads, police said. The motorcyclist, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

According to witness statements and evidence at the scene, the 2004 Suzuki motorcycle was headed west on Craig when a 2006 Toyota Sequoia traveling north on Cimarron pulled in front of the motorcycle as it entered the intersection, police said.

The motorcycle ran into the right side of the Toyota, police said.

The driver of the SUV, Monica Ponce, 43, of Las Vegas suffered minor injuries, police said.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.

The crash is the 45th traffic fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
