A small fire on an electric panel box outside a portable classroom at Variety Alternative School in Las Vegas forced students to evacuate, fire officials said.
Las Vegas Fire and Rescue crews responded at 10:10 a.m. to the school, located east of downtown at 2601 Sunrise Ave.
Fire spokesman Tim Szymanski said the children were evacuated safely, and the situation is under control. Several fire units were at the scene.
