A search is under way to find a 19-year-old man who disappeared Sunday afternoon while swimming near Echo Bay in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, authorities said.
National Park Service officials said the Las Vegas man, who has not been identified, was in ankle-deep water when his friend last saw him. The swimmer was last seen around 12:30 p.m.
Park rangers are searching the area by boat, while Metro Police’s search and rescue dive team is looking underwater, officials said.
The area where the man was swimming has water depths of 20 to 30 feet.
