The Las Vegas Valley should be clear of any rain tonight, the National Weather Service said.

On Sunday, there will be a chance for afternoon and evening thunderstorms, and excessively hot afternoon temperatures are expected to persist through Monday before it starts to cool off, forecasters predict.

The Las Vegas Valley remains under an excessive heat warning until 8 p.m. Monday, according to the weather service.

The heat warning, which kicks in when the temperature is expected to hit 108 degrees, was avoided Saturday, thanks to extra cloud cover. Saturday’s high of 104 degrees occurred at 11:41 a.m. The temperature as of 10 p.m. had dropped to 94 degrees. The overnight low is expected to dip to 87 degrees.

Sunday's forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. It will be partly sunny and hot, with a high near 109.

Monday is expected to be sunny and hot with a high of 109 degrees, before the temperatures begin to fall off the rest of the week, dropping to 102 degrees on Saturday, the weather service predicts.
