Gov. Brian Sandoval has named Reno lawyer Rick Trachok to the Nevada Board of Regents that oversees the university and college systems.
He succeeds William Cobb who resigned to become a U.S. Magistrate.
Trachok is a partner in the law office of Jones Vargas. He previously was at other law firms in Reno and also served as a deputy district attorney.
He was also a 10-year member of the Sage Ridge School Board in Reno.
The governor, in announcing the appointment Friday, said "Rick's experience as a lawyer in private practice, as a member of a school board of trustees and as an adjunct professor of law will provide him a well-reasoned foundation from which to make decisions affecting higher education in our state."
