Got an idea for a Barrick exhibit? Post it!

Barrick Museum blank wall

The exhibit suggestion wall at Barrick Museum.

These days, a blank white wall in a gallery is enough to make anyone in the community salivate over its possibilities. UNLV’s Barrick Museum happens to have such a wall. In a vein similar to its community chalkboard (where visitors voice off about budget cuts and exhibits), the blank wall is home to ideas on its future exhibits.

While the answers, attached to the wall via Post-it notes, reveal a range of interests—Satan in all cultures, goats, war, Native American tribes, “my life” and Post-it notes themselves—the overwhelming interest, according to museum program director Aurora Giguet, seems to be art by UNLV students and alumni.

Barrick, in the wake of lost state funding, is on its way to becoming a full-fledged art museum with fundraising and rotating exhibits, so chances are good its staff will examine all input. There’s still time. Suggestions will be accepted through the middle of September.
