Temperatures to soar again today in Las Vegas

Highs climbing to around 108 degrees in Las Vegas Valley, forecasters say

More hot temperatures and lots of sunshine are heading to Las Vegas this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

A southwest air flow will lead to the dry conditions today, the weather service said.

Moisture will gradually increase Wednesday and Thursday as the flow becomes more southeasterly, forecasters said. That will lead to a chance of thunderstorms south and east of Las Vegas by Thursday afternoon, they said.

Highs today are expected to be around 98 degrees on the west side of the Las Vegas Valley to around 108 degrees on the east side, forecasters said.

At 5:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 82 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 80 degrees. The record low was 58 degrees, set in 1938.

Around the valley just before 6 a.m., temperatures were 74 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 74 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 78 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures at McCarran were to rise today to 91 degrees by 9 a.m., to 98 degrees by noon and reach a high of 106 degrees by 4 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 102 degrees and the record high was 113 degrees, set in 1939.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 104 degrees by 6 p.m., to 97 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 91 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Wednesday's morning low will be 83 degrees and Wednesday's high will climb to 106 degrees, they said.
