Rangers recover body of Henderson man, 25, from Lake Mohave

Nevada Bay

The body of a Henderson man who was presumed drowned in Lake Mohave nine days ago was found Tuesday morning, the National Park Service said.

A visitor contacted the park service about 6:45 a.m. after seeing human remains floating in Nevada Bay on Lake Mohave, Lake Mead National Recreation Area spokesman Kevin Turner said.

The park service confirmed the body was that of Andre Battle, 25, who went missing Aug. 7.

Officials suspect Battle drowned, but the Clark County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death, Turner said.

Battle was in a group that boated from Cottonwood Cove about 2 1/2 miles north to Arizona Bay on the Arizona side of Lake Mohave. A witness told officials that Battle was in the water for two to three minutes, then was heard saying he couldn’t breathe.

The witness said she turned away for a moment, then Battle was gone when she turned back around.

Battle wasn’t wearing a life jacket. The water depth in the area ranges from 80 to 100 feet, park officials said.

The bay where Battle’s body was found is north of the area where he went missing.
