Medical board files complaint against Las Vegas doctor

CARSON CITY – A Las Vegas doctor is in hot water with the state Board of Medical Examiners for allegedly signing blank drug prescription forms and permitting student nurses and externs to use them.

Dr. Romuldao Aragon Jr. has 20 days to answer the complaint filed against him by the board, which says sanctions may be imposed.

Aragon was the medical director for FirstMed Urgent Care between August 2008 and February 2010. While in that position he reportedly signed the blank prescription drug forms, permitting their use by nurse practitioner students who weren't legally allowed to prescribe.

The complaint said Aragon also pre-signed physical examination forms for such uses as pre-employment physicals. This permitted unlicensed persons to fill in the pre-signed physical examination forms indicating Aragon had examined the patient.

According to the complaint, Aragon never conducted some of the physical examinations.

Aragon has been licensed to practice medicine in Nevada since Nov. 4, 1999.
